A.C.E. Kicks Off Geotechnical Drilling for New Fuel Canopy and UST Project at Chevron Station in Austin

Hello, fellow engineers, developers, contractors and Austin locals! At A.C.E., we're always excited to dive into projects that enhance our city's infrastructure while ensuring safety. Today, I'm thrilled to announce the commencement of geotechnical drilling operations for an exciting new development: the proposed fuel canopy and underground storage tank (UST) at a gas station located near Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas.

This project aims to upgrade the existing convenience store site with a modern fuel canopy and state-of-the-art UST system. Our role? Providing critical geotechnical insights to ensure the foundation is rock-solid—literally. We've just completed the initial subsurface exploration phase. These borings help us analyze soil stratigraphy, groundwater conditions, and potential challenges like undocumented fill soils, all to deliver tailored recommendations for design and construction.

To give you a behind-the-scenes look, here are some snapshots from the site during our drilling operations. The overcast skies didn't dampen our team's spirits as we set up rigs right next to the bustling I-35 highway, with Austin's iconic downtown skyline peeking in the background.

In this shot, you can see our drilling rig towering over the site, with workers in safety gear coordinating the operation. The Chevron sign stands proud, and traffic hums along I-35 in the distance. Note the muddy ground from recent rains—typical Austin weather adding a bit of challenge!
